Dewunmi Ogunsanya (SAN), DSTV chairman gets Rademo family nod to become new odofin

Speculations are ripe in traditional circles in Ikorodu that DSTV boss and legal luminary from the ruling Lasunwon house in Ikorodu may have been tipped and chosen as the next Odofin of Ikorodu. The Senior Advoate of Nigeria (SAN) and Chairman of DSTV is a philanthropist; he loves football and spends millions of naira annually to sponsor his football club.

A source told Oriwu Sun that three people from the Rademo family, who indicated their interest, were in line for this third highest traditional position in Ikorodu. Apart from Dewunmi, the other person is Lateef Kamson (aka Kamalat), who is said to be sponsored by a wealthy female banker. The rich and influential woman is said to be strongly backing this candidate and believes he would sail through.

The third candidate, Oriwu Sun learnt, has pulled out of the race while Dewunmi’s family endorsed his candidature last month and are throwing their full weight behind him. Feelers indicate that Ogunsanya enjoys more advantage and is likely to clinch the position and commence the rituals that would lead to his installation to fill the vacant position left by Oba Kabiru Shotobi when he was Odofin. He became the new Oba of Ikorodu in May 2015 to succeed the late Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi.

Many people believe that if Adewunmi clinches the title, he would bring a lot of development to Ikorodu, using his vast connections and networks. This man is said to have sponsored over fifty (50) pilgrims to the holyland for Haj and does this annually. This devout Muslim is also said to have been keen on helping the less privileged; hence, his philanthropy is outstanding.

As earlier mentioned, he loves football and owns a soccer academy, where he injects a lot of money to engage the youths. The brilliant Lawyer cum entrepreneur, who lives in a bullet proof house in Ebute and has lofty mansions in Victoria Island and South Africa, enjoys riding exotic cars among other luxuries.

He remains a gentleman, who does not delve into frivolous lifestyles; hence, many wish him success in his quest to ascend the Odofin stool.
