Daru Hikmat Wal-Is’Had Arabic school in Mojoda/Iponyewa, Adamo area of Ikorodu, on Sunday, April 8, 2018, a held graduation ceremony for five of its pupils who all came out with distinctions.
While expressing his joy for the feat performed by graduands who are, Ameerat Olamide Abdul-Akeem Kasim, Aleemat Oke-Owo Abdul-Akeem Kasim, Toyeeb Adekoya, Thoaban Eniola Banjoko and Abd-Wasiu Olamide Oseni, proprietor of the school, Alhaji Waliyullah Abd. Qadri Akewusola, commended their parents, Alhaji and Mrs. Abdul Akeem Kasim from Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State and Mr. and Mrs. Isiaq Banjoko from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, for their exemplary financial and moral supports.
The proprietor, described the graduation ceremony as a double celebration because it coincided with the 25th anniversary of the school. He thanked God and all the guests for the success the event recorded.
Alhaji Akewusola also appealed to the graduands’ parents and their guests for generous financial supports to enable them complete the Arabic school which is currently under construction, with the assurance that money donated would be judiciously used. While congratulating the graduands and their parents, Akewusola enjoined other Muslim parents to enroll their children at the Arabic school for quality Arabic education, which would be beneficial to them.
An invited Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abdul-Rafiu Babatunde (Pupa) in his brief address, also congratulated the graduands for their achievements and urged them to allow the Quranic knowledge acquired to guide their way of life while also urging them to shun act or attitude capable of rubbishing their Islamic training and upbringing.
He also advised them not to rest on their oars after graduation but to further their Islamic education. He urged their parents to continue to support them in this regard.
The high-point of the event was the presentation of Quranic slates to the graduands, who were uniquely dressed in full Islamic graduation regalia. After this, each of them mounted a specially decorated podium one after the other to recite the selected Surahs of the Holy Quran written on the slates with sonorous voices, which caught the attention of the teeming audience.
Their proud parents and guests later took over the podium to spray the graduands with crisp naira notes to appreciate them. The event was brought to a close around 4:30pm with presentation of certificates to the graduands, vote of thanks and a marathon photo-session respectively.
In a brief interview with Oriwu Sun, one of the parents, Alhaji Abdul-Akeem Kasim, said his wife and himself were encouraged to give their children Islamic education to enable them to know more about their God and religion. He commended the school for their efforts.
Another parents, Mrs. Ajimotu Kasim, said she expected the graduands to replicate the success attained in their academics and further Islamic education and to comport themselves appropriately in the society.
Mr. Isiaq Banjoko, a father of two of the graduands, said he expected that such education would
enable them to become successful and popular Islamic scholars while his wife, Mrs. Monsurat Banjoko, urged other Muslims to make Islamic education a priority for their children. Alhaji (Imam) Y. A. Kasim who is a grandfather of two of the graduands, thanked God for making him to witness the event and advised the graduands to allow their Islamic education to guide their behaviours and dealings in life.
The five graduands in separate brief interview, described the graduation ceremony as the best day of their lives and thanked their parents and teachers for giving them the needed support while also promising them to make them happy and proud in their subsequent Islamic education and academics.
