A prominent Ikorodu politician, hotelier and one time newspaper Publisher, Alhaji Musiliu Lawal Animasahun (a.k.a De Cubano), recorded a major tragedy on Saturday, November 26 while out of the country as he lost two of his wives to death on a single day.
Alhaji Animashaun, who was the Publisher of Ikorodu Star Newspaper and Proprietor of the popular De Cubano Hotel in Anibaba area of Ikorodu, was in England attending the graduation ceremony of one of his sons, when death visited his home and snatched away two of his wives same day.
The first tragedy struck on the morning of that fateful Saturday as Mrs. Adiat Omorinola Lawal-Animashaun bowed to death at the age of 68. When the news of her passage reached the second wife, Majolagbe Animashaun (aka Iya Ibeji), the latter was said to have collapsed. By the time she was rushed to a nearby hospital, she was confirmed dead by evening. She was aged 60.
Oriwu Sun learnt that Adiyat (Nee Benson), who is a business woman in Lagos, had been sick for some time until her death that fateful Saturday morning while Majolagbe was recuperating from a minor sickness on the day she received news of her colleague’s death.
The latter (Majolagbe) is said to be a bigtime business woman and a major distributor for Dangote Group of Companies.
Family sources told Oriwu Sun that the embattled husband, Cubano, rushed back home from England when he heard the shocking news for the burial of the first wife Adiyat on December 9, 2016. While Majolagbe, who is a Muslim by faith, was buried immediately.
Meanwhile, politicians, family members, friends and associates of the popular De Cubano have been trooping to his residence along Igbogbo Road for their respects and condolences. The fidau prayer for Majolagbe took place on Friday, December2, 2016 amidst emotions.
Oriwu Sun joins the numerous admirers and well-wishers of De Cubano to wish the nuclear and extended families the fortitude to bear the huge loss.
