If the news reaching our desk is anything to go by, the big secretariat of Ikorodu Local Government at Beach Road will shrink into a new complex along 73, Lagos Road (Haruna Bus stop), Ikorodu as from February 2018. The new proposed complex to house the Local Government workers is said to belong to a popular developer, (name withheld).
Oriwu Sun gathered that already, officials of the Lagos State Government comprising Engineers and other officials from both Works Department and Physical Planning had visited the proposed location and approved it. It is now expected that Governor Ambode will approve payment of the initial two years rent for the Council workers to relocate to this site. We learnt that the only thing delaying the commencement of relocation is the rent payment by the State. As soon as Governor Ambode approves payment, according to sources in Alausa, action will begin.
Surprisingly, when Oriwu Sun contacted the local government Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adesina for confirmation, he denied knowledge of this development and said he will cross check to find out if it is true. It should be recalled that last year, Oriwu Sun published a story that this secretariat would soon give way to the popular multinational Shoprite while the council offices would move to a location opposite the Post Office near Ita Elewa.
It seems that for reasons best known to State Government, the site might move to Lagos road until Alausa builds a new permanent place for the council.
