For socialites in Lagos State, the name Alhaji Tajudeen Adeniran Jaiyesinmi rings a distinctive bell especially those from Ikorodu.
This handsome Chartered Architect, philanthropist and politician, on May 13, 2017, was honoured with a prestigious chieftaincy title along with his three wives by the Onikosi of Ikosi land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Alamu Oloyede Kehinde at CMD Ground, Shangisha, Ikosi, Lagos.
Oba Kehinde had noted that he honoured Jaiyesinmi for his long term support as a pillar in Ikosi land and his tremendous support for the Kabiyesi during his reign in the past ten years.
Jaiyesinmi, who was conferred with the great title, Aare Baba Oba of Ikosi Kingdom according to the Onikosi, said that regardless of age, Jaiyesinmi was his great father; hence, he deserved the honour being bestowed upon him and by extension, his wives. The monarch described Aare as a personality, who was instrumental to the Kabiyesi’s elevation as a first class Oba in Lagos State. He, therefore, wished the Aare and is three beautiful wives long reign in their new positions in the kingdom.
The Onikosi told Oriwu Sun exclusively that he decided to honour the Jayeisinmi’s because they had brought a lot of progress to Ikosiland in terms of infrastructural development and humanitarian gestures.
The three lovely and beautiful wives of the Lagos socialite had told Oriwu Sun at the sidelines of the chieftaincy installation that their husband is not only a good natured man but a good hearted husband, whose love for his children and his family is unparalleled and unquantifiable; hence, they thanked the Onikosi for his recognitions upon the family.
Trust the socialite, Jaiyesinmi, who is a strong member of the All Progressives Congress in Mushin area of the state and a man with the proverbial blue show (symbol of royalty) because of his family roots in Sagamu, a powerful presence of friends, relations, associates and well-wishers accompanied him to the installation ceremony.
When such a powerful socialite teamed up with his three wealthy and influential wives in the business community, the delegation to Ikosi Kingdom on that day was extraordinarily large.
Anytime Jaiyesinmi throws a party, he is a crowd puller, but this time, it was as if he went to Ikosi land with a whole town. He had invited guests not only from Ikorodu but from all over Lagos State and the country. Courtesy of his three pretty wives, each of whom had a lot of fans, the arena was full of colourful ladies, who glamoured the event.
From morning till evening, as the occasion lasted, Ikosi kingdom was set ablaze with festivities. Food and drinks were lavishly served as people took home packs.
A chief in Ikosi Kingdom, Chief Nureni Ademola, told Oriwu Sun that the Onikosi was always full of praises for Jaiyesinmi’s inestimable contributions to his palace and his kingdom. He prayed that God will grant the Aare good health, long life and more prosperity.
For more than one hour, the Ikosi monarch performed the traditional rites of chieftaincy on Jaiyesinmi and his three wives. They included the financial rites by all the eminent persons who accompanied Aare and his wives. They paid their financial dues to all the layers of chieftaincy institutions according to Yoruba tradition.
Then the four new chiefs were decorated with beads on their necks and wrists. After their decorations with the paraphernalia of office, they were officially pronounced according to their titles. Whereas the man was given Aare Baba Oba of Ikosi land, his wives were labelled Yeye Aare Baba Oba of Ikosi kingdom.
Meanwhile one of the wives of Jaiyesinmi stood out prominently having come to this event with three previous chieftaincies from other kingdom in her kitty. Mrs. Abimbola Jaiyesinmi had in the past received the chieftaincy title of Yeye Araba of Ipakodo as well as Yeye Basorun of same Ipakodo. She also parades the title Otun Adini of Ipakodo. The Ikosi title is her fourth chieftaincy.
The other wife of Jaiyesinmi, Adenike, is a successful business woman who was named Yeye Aare Baba Oba II of Ikosi land while the third wife, Adebisi, is Yeye Aare Baba Oba III.
Popular Apala Musician, Musliu Haruna performed at the venue to entertain the guests as dignitaries danced and had fantastic merriment.
There was no doubt that the event will linger in the memories of Ikosi people and the large entourage which followed Jaiyesinmi family to Ikosi Kingdom.
