Alhaji Jamiu Ashimi, the permanent secretary, a brain box, full of ideas

Alhaji Jamiu Adewale Ashimi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture

The career civil servant who has attained the pinnacle of the service ordinarily looks simple and quiet, but he is a brain box, so intelligent and so full of an ideas. He worked closely with Mrs. Akinsola, the Acting Commissioner for the Tourism, Arts and Culture ministry, to produce the best of results in the just concluded One Lagos Fiesta. Both players seem to believe in each other. They trust themselves and unite to achieve goals.

Before the event flagged off, Alhaji Ashimi was busy running all over the state from his office to the various committees for the festival, the various venues etc. He was the one dealing with the various contractors and popular artistes and the various logistics for the fiesta. In short, he was a very busy man throughout the period of the fiesta coordinating with Mrs. Akinsola all these activities including the negotiations with the performing artistes.

When the eight day programme started, he was also everywhere joining Mrs. Adesola to host Governor Ambode on the day he visited the venues.

This reporter has known Alhaji Ashimi for a long time in the service as not only a hardworking officer but one of the loyalists of Ambode’s government for his enormous responsibilities during the One Lagos Fiesta which he coordinated and executed successfully. He needs to be commended by Lagosians alongside his acting commissioner and other team mates.

We wish him the best in the years to come in his service to this great state.
