The much needed intervention was coming after two notable individuals: Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, former Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Lagos State, and Dr. Junaid Sholebo, had also rehabilitated some blocks of classrooms in the school to create conducive environment for both the teachers and pupils to teach and learn respectively.

The project, which was awarded to LABKEM Services and expected to be completed and handed over in four months, is the third projects to be executed in the school by the Adesina administration following the construction of 6 Cubic toilets and perimeter fencing.

In his address at the groundbreaking event, Hon. Adesina reaffirmed his government’s resolve to ensure conducive learning in all schools across the council, adding that the project is in line with the goals outlined to be achieved by his government.

“Around December 2021, we inspected the school and noticed that the condition of the classrooms weren’t encouraging because pupils learn in dilapidated classrooms, yet, the head teacher and staff continued to teach out of humanity because they needed to carry out their basic duties.

“This administration believes that education is the foundation for all-round development, and the fabric of our society can only reflect growth based on the attention we give to the academic sector.

“As we continue to project building schools with modern classrooms, today, we’re laying the foundation of 5-blocks of classroom for Salvation Army Primary School which we considered a milestone to also mark one year in office of this leadership.

“It cannot be over-emphasized how the people play a key role in the progress of our great Ikorodu local government, as I sincerely want to use this medium to appreciate the good people of Ikorodu and all our supporters for their backing and partnership with this administration so far.

“Rome was not built in a day, therefore, we all must continue to work together to help our promising Local Government and make it an envy of all other Local Governments, in this unique State of Excellence”, Adesina appealed.

The Vice-Chairman of the Council, Aarebirin Hon. Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba who also doubles as the Special Adviser to the Council on Education, while corroborating the chairman’s remarks, stated that the best is yet to come from the council un aiding quality education.

“We cannot appreciate the good people of Ikorodu local government enough for their consistent support and loyalty to our strategies, they’re the reason our administration has been impactful and monumental over time.

“When I say Ikorodu is the best region in the entire world, I mean that from the depth of my heart, simply because of people’s commitment and dedication. We can see how bright our future is, and we’ll continue to work until we reach the peak.

“There is no doubt that dividends of democracy will continue to be the focal point of this administration. Just like the chairman said earlier, it is a collective effort, so, let us continue to join hands as a people with this council to ensure we persist to make Ikorodu local government the place to be”, Folashade added.

Before the foundation laying, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Lagos State deputy governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) Apex leader in Ikorodu, applauded Hon. Wasiu Adesina for executing such a laudable project, describing it as effective budget spending.

He advised the management and staff of the school to imbibe a maintenance culture when the project is eventually completed, adding that the project is in strong alignment with the State government’s vision.

“This clearly shows the developmental antecedents of Adesina’s led council. It is a thing of joy to see this leadership support the educational sector in Ikorodu local government, given our children hope that they’re not forgotten.

“When such projects are done more often, they give more value to education and makes learning a thing of delight and passion which would correct the misguided foundation our youths of today are having”, Prince Ogunleye stressed.
