The publisher of Oriwu Sun, Chief Monzor Olowosago has publicly debunked allegations that he received N2million from Oba Kabiru Shotobi to promote the cause of the new Ayangbure of Ikorodu and also got millions of naira from Akinwunmi Ambode to launder the governor’s image and project his political aspiration.
Facing and addressing a huge address at the 31st anniversary of his paper, Oriwu Sun, which included the representative of Governor Ambode at the event, Mr. Kehinde Bamgbetan and the monarch of Ikorodu kingdom Oba Shotobi, Chief Olowosago described the money allegation as not only false but mischievous.
According to him, the highly principled and wealthy Oba Shotobi never offered any monetary incentive to him at any time, rather he (Monzor) out of personal conviction patriotism and due respect for the interest of Ikorodu people voluntarily offered himself and his services for the new monarch at no fee.
Similarly, he never requested for any gratification from Governor Ambode nor received any from him except governor advertisements in Oriwu Sun for services rendered.
He blasted the local government chairmen in the division especially he one in Ikorodu Central for selfishness, noting that Oriwu Sun as a community paper for Ikorodu division and the mouth piece of the people ought to belong to the councils. But rather than support this publication, the chairmen frivolously fritter away allocation given to them into their private pockets.
He condemned the conspicuous absence of the six ex-council bosses at the recent outstanding event organized by Hon. Jimi Benson in Ikorodu to account for his stewardship saying that the council chairpersons opted for a seminar for pecuniary reason instead of attending this significant political event in their constituency.
The publisher who is also a member of the advisory council of the new Oba of Ikorodu praised eh presence of Oba Shotobi, Oba Fatai Agoro (Ranodu of Imota) and Oba of Ibeshe at the anniversary celebration. He appreciated the new spirit of understanding and unity among the principal Obas of the division and also showered encomiums on Olori Kudirat Shotobi and the other Obas’ wives for their humility, simplicity and supportive roles.
With great joy, the publisher thanked all the eminent personalities at the occasion confessing that the celebration was mainly for the advertisers in Oriwu Sun, the vendors/distributors of the paper and the readers.
He was fully of thanks to the permanent secretary Ministry of Information, Mr. Adeyemi, Chief of Staff, Mr. Samuel Olukunle Ojo, the Obas and Chiefs, the Governor and his representative at the event as well as other close friends and supporters of Oriwu Sun and its publisher.
He prayed that God will continue to show to Ambode the kind of respect and love he has for him (Monzor) and for God’s abundant blessings and wisdoms to the Obas and their Oloris who graced the occasion.
He expressed gratitude to all his supporters and everyone who had stood by Oriwu Sun since its thirty one (31) years of existence.
