Gov Sanwo-Olu’s health programme for the masses attracts huge success as Dr Zamba showers gifts, cash on subscribers during raffle draw

The Lagos State Health Management Authority (LASHMA), on Thursday, August 18, 2022, held a mega promo event to reward residents of Ikorodu who have enrolled for its statewide health insurance scheme, popularly known as ‘Ilera-Eko’.

The memorable event, which was also aimed at further capturing more residents across Ikorodu division to enrol for the health scheme, was held at the United High School, Ikorodu.

The health scheme, launched in 2021, was designed to cater for the health needs of the masses in actualisation of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s health reform promises.

Since it’s launching about a year ago, more residents have continued to key into the health scheme to enjoy various health packages designed for the benefit of all categories of residents in the state.

The Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Authority, led LASHMA officials to the event, while Oba Kabiru Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu (represented), notable personalities and other stakeholders were also in attendance.

It was indeed a shower of gifts and cash as the enrollees of the scheme and other residents took part in the mega promo which included raffle draw, referral cash contest and question and answer session.

Among the exciting prizes won were mini-bus (Korope), L.G Led TV (32 inches), Elepaq generating set, mobile phones and power bank.

Also, 10 vulnerable people who could afford to enroll for the health scheme were sponsored while scratch cards were handed over to them, courtesy of Food Crowdy.

Meanwhile, Dr. Zamba, while speaking at the event, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for initiating quality and affordable healthcare services for the masses, while also thanking the residents for enrolling for the ‘Ilèra-Eko’ scheme.

She said that the mega reward promo was in fulfillment of the promise made last year to those who registered that if they pay for the scheme, they would qualified for a raffle draw.

Dr. Zamba urged those at the event to help spread the gospel and encourage other residents yet to apply for the health scheme to do so in order to enjoy the inherent benefits.

While also speaking briefly, Dr. Tunji Akintade, a board member of LASHMA, urged council Chairmen in Ikorodu division, to support the health scheme by sponsoring the registration of their staff and residents.

Oba Shotobi, while speaking through his representative, described the health scheme as a laudable programme.

He urged residents to prioritise registration for the scheme over other frivolous activities, stating that health is wealth.

Some of the winners of the mega promo expressed their gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for establishing the health scheme and urged other residents to register for it.

The winner of the star prize, Mrs. Olufunke Gbadebo, said that she was happy to have won the mini-bus, describing the day as her happiest in life, while also thanking Governor Sanwo-Olu and staff of LASHMA for coming up with the health insurance scheme.

She stated that ‘Ilera-Eko’ is very cheap and stress free and encouraged people to take advantage of the scheme to enjoy quality medical treatments.

Mrs. Margaret Adeniyi, the winner of  the generating set who said she did not believe she could win at the promo, thanked God for being among the lucky winners and also lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for setting up ‘Ilera-Eko for care for the health of the masses.

Another winner who won 50,000 naira Referral cash prize money, stated that he initially doubted the scheme and thought it was a scam, but that people kept persuading him.

He said that he later gave it a try and when he found out that it was real, he started referring people to register for the scheme.

While expressing his appreciation for the cash prize, he described the health scheme as a quality programme and very affordable, while urging people to register for it.
