Another 7 cultist suspects arrested in Agura for killing “Agbekoya”

A feat was recorded in the fight against cultism in Ikorodu on Saturday, November 28, 2020, with the arrest of seven (7) suspected members of the Eye Cult group by the police.

The suspected cultists,  whose age ranges between 21and 48 years,  were arrested by the police officers attached to the Imota Police Station at 2pm at Agura, lkorodu,  when they launched a deadly attack on members of the a Vigilante group,  popular known as Agbekoya, in the area.

Oriwu Sun gathered that the cultists had carried out the attack to revenge the recent attack and consequent arrest of one of their members by the men of the Vigilance group.

During the premeditated attack, cult members reportedly used machetes and guns to inflict various degree of injury on the members of ‘Agbekoya’.

When the officers of the Imota Police station arrived at the scene, seven of the cultists were apprehended while others who were in possession of dangerous weapons escaped.

Those arrested were Abolaji Arbayo (male) 21, Josiah Offem (male) 37, Oluwapelumi Oyeyinka (male) 25, Lamidi Taofeeq (male) 41, Ahmed Shittu (male) 48, the driver of the cult group’s operational vehicle, Rabiu Ganiyu (male) 25, and Zainab Nurudeen (female) 20, the amourer who sources for guns for the cult group’s operations.

Dangerous weapons and items were also reportedly recovered from the cult suspects among which were machetes, dangerous charms, one green paragon bus (with registration number: LAGOS APP 600 XA) which was used by the suspects for their operations.

Oriwu Sun further gathered that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, had since directed that the case should be transferred to the State CID Panti for proper investigation and as a way of sending signals to other cultists and criminals that the State will be dangerous for them to operate.

The CP also has ordered the Department of Operations to make his directives on anti-crime strategies of the command into a signal and circulate them to all police stations and formations in the State for strict compliance with the immediate effect.
