How BRF group mobilised voters for Buhari/Osinbajo’s victory in Ikorodu

Two days to the rescheduled presidential election, a new but powerful political forum known as Fashola’s Group of the APC shook Ota-Ona area of Ikorodu as it held a big rally on Thursday, February 21, 2019, to canvass for votes for Buhari and Osinbajo in the February 23 election.

The group, led by Chief Abiodun Wahab, the Baba Adinni of Ikorodu Central Mosque who is also the Biwaji of Ikorodu and a very close friend of Babatunde Fashola former Governor of Lagos State and Federal Minister of Works, Power and Housing, organized the party/rally at  Oshonigbehin Street, Oke-Ota Ona, Ikorodu, to sensitize voters and convince them to vote for Buhari/Osinbajo’s second term.

The huge party was not only for the group’s supporters in Ikorodu division but also those from neighbouring towns were in attendance.

Residents of this venue turned out enmasse to listen to the campaigners.

Chief Wahab eloquently told the crowd why they and other Nigerians must vote for Buhari and his deputy in this election arguing that Buhari is the only Presidential candidate among others who is honest without stain and who can deliver the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians.

He told the audience that this is what President Buhari would do if they vote for him unlike his main opponent, Atiku Abubakar, who has promised Nigerians to privatize all national assets to his friends if elected.

According to him, Atiku is also a man who has told Nigerian that he will grant Amnesty to treasury looters if he is elected so that they can return stolen monies to the country.

Chief Wahab described Buhari as a genuine man who loves the masses and assured his listeners that after this election, they will see the wonders Buhari’s administration will do for all Nigerians.

He expressed surprised that PDP ruled Nigeria for sixteen (16) years and destroyed the nation while this country men and women expected the Buhari led APC federal government to magically transform the damaged done by PDP in under three years. He said that Buhari’s first term was not enough for the government to repair the damages done by PDP, hence, they need a second term to fix the nation. He asked the electorate if they would prefer to return leadership to the looters so they can do more harm to the nation.

He assured the audience, most of who were women, that Buhari will make them happier and that they will enjoy the nation the more if they vote for the APC in these elections.

He cited Buhari’s pledge to send to jail all looters of the nation’s treasury, saying that this assurance means that the country will be better under Buhari’s APC. He urged the electorate to come out in totality as early as 8a.m. to vote Buhari.

The Publisher of Oriwu Sun, Chief Monzor Olowosago, who was at the occasion, also addressed the electorate giving his own reasons why Nigerians should vote for Buhari and the APC.

He reminded the Nigerians that some of the retired Generals like IBB, Obasanjo etc. are angry with Buhari because he has told them that he will revoke the oil bloc’s licenses issued to them at the expiration of the time and that he will transfer ownership of such blocs to states because it is not fair that individuals will be living fat on money belonging to all while the rest of the people are suffering.

Chief Olowosago noted that these military generals and many rich Nigerians are the ones who destroyed the country, hence, the only choice for true Nigerians is to give Buhari a second term to complete the good job he started.

The Publisher praised the Fashola’s group of APC for their efforts and noted that he has always appreciated Fashola’s contributions to Lagos State and the nation, hence the reason Buhari gave him a three in one portfolio.  (Works, Housing and Power), the first time in the history of this nation that one man will hold three ministerial jobs at once.

Other speakers mounted the podium to convince the crowd why they should vote for Buhari on February 23, each giving his own reasons and arguments.

The unique thing about this rally was that it did not involve the mainstream APC in Ikorodu, it carved out a new group of rural people, mostly women who belong to the lower class and the grassroot dwellers.

No wonder the faces at the rally were entirely new and they all showed enthusiasm having been recognized by this Fashola’s group and given a sense of belonging. No member of the main APC caucus in Ikorodu was at this venue and this shows that these people are new discoveries.

Two cows were slaughtered for the rally as food and drinks were served abundantly with guests eating enough and having some take away and other gifts.

For over four hours, it was joy galore – prayers, speeches, dancing and singing and throwing of banters.

Residents of the area were amazed at the crowd, the entertainment and violence free fanfare at the venue.

Some of the guests who spoke with Oriwu Sun expressed satisfaction with Buhari’s performance in his first term and said they will willingly vote for his second term.

Others said they were happy that Fashola has not disappointed the nation and that he has bright chances to contest for the Presidency in 2023.

Among the dignitaries present were Prince and Alhaja Akinola Odeyemi, owners of the popular Ikorodu Fun Park, De Moro, a popular hotelier and Alhaji Lateef Adeyeri (Adlat).
