The incumbent representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives and the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the same seat, Hon. Babajimi Benson, has secured a return ticket to the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly.
He polled 42,563 votes to beat his closest rival, Hon. Ramota Omotolani Disu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 19, 825 votes in the Presidential/National Assembly elections held on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
The victory was a repeat of the 2015 general elections feat where the federal lawmaker recorded the highest votes in Lagos State.
Dr. Musa Obalola, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the House of Representatives poll for Ikorodu Federal constituency, declared the result on Sunday, February 24, at the INEC’s collation centre in Ikorodu at 6:22p.m.
According to him, Hon. Benson is returned as the winner having satisfied the requirement of the law and scoring the highest number of votes.
In the same vein, the four term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Kosofe Constituency and the candidate of APC for the Lagos East Senatorial position, Hon. Adebayo Osinowo (Peperito), secured the majority votes in the same February 23 election to win the Senatorial seat.
Announcing the result on Sunday, February 24, Dr. Adelaja Odukoya, the INEC collation officer for the election, declared that the APC candidate won with 18,713 votes against PDP’s flagbearer, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, the daughter of late Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi, who polled 13,075.
