The residents of Aleke community in Isiu area of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have showered praises on the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for fulfilling his electioneering campaign promise of procuring a transformer for the community.
While speaking during the commissioning of the transformer at Aleke on Sunday, October 1, 2017, where residents turned out enmasse, the chairman of Aleke CDA, Prince Adekunle Alashe (a.k.a Alesh), on behalf of the community expressed their gratitude to Governor Ambode for good works and effective service delivery to the rural and urban areas and for lighting up the community.
According to him, the provision of the transformer by the state government was an indication that Governor Ambode was truly committed to his campaign promise to use his administration to bring about development and address the yearnings of the people at the grass roots.
While reminiscing on the efforts made by the Aleke CDA since 2010 to get a transformer from the Lagos State government to power electricity, he said that it was finally delivered on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Prince Alashe also commended the contributions made by the entire residents before and after the delivery of the transformer.
He, however, appealed to them to sustain their supports and cooperation for the ongoing and future developmental projects, in the community. The chairman also explained that for the on-going school project, the community decided to establish a community public school to help their students avoid stressful journey to a distant school every day with its financial implications.
He said that the new school building had been erected up to a roofing, level and that more lands were needed for its extension and for the proposed maternity health care.
Prince Alashe also advised indigenes of communities in Ikorodu division and Lagos State to always reserve land or lease them rather than outright selling to enable them provide enough land for future developmental projects.
The CDA chairman again appealed to Governor Ambode to urgently fulfil his promise for the extension of Ijebu-Ode, Itoikin Expressway to eight lanes (8) to reduce lives being lost through accidents along the expressway due to its narrowness and deep potholes. He also sought the construction of the road that leads to Babington Macaulay International School at Agunfoye.
After making other requests and pledging the loyalty of resident of the community to Ambode’s administration, the CDA chairman thanked Oba Kabiru Shotobi, Ayangbure of Ikorodu for his huge financial contributions during the launching of Town Hall, Police station and other self-help project in the community in 2015 and his subsequent contributions towards the development of Aleke since his enthronement.
Meanwhile, in a brief address by Governor Ambode’s representative, Alhaji (Hon.) Tajudeen Quadri, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Matters, he commended Aleke CDA for executing various self-help projects in the community. The Special Adviser praised them for mobilizing the residents to provide necessary electrical materials for the installation of the transformer.
He also lauded the residents for supporting and cooperating with CDA executives to carry out several developmental projects and urged them to sustain such gesture.
Hon. Quadri urged the CDA to ensure chat that land acquired for the school project was up to five plots to attract state government’s involvement. The Governor’s representative also charged them to continue to strive for further development of their community through well-coordinated community efforts. He assured them that he would convey all their requests to the governor.
In a short royal message by Oba Kabir, Shotobi, which was delivered by his representative, Chief Noah Jaiyesimi, Baale of Maya-Jayeisinmi, he commended the Baale, CDA officials and the entire residents for their commitments and passion for the development of Aleke community. He advised them to continue to work together and prayed for further peace, progress and development for Aleke town.
Among the various achievement of Aleke CDA included, the erection of one hundred and eighty seven (187) concrete poles; both high tension and low tension; connection of high tension and low tension with aluminium conductor; engagement and employment of security personnel (Night Watchmen) and prompt payment of their salaries.
Others include, construction of security house and gates for the transformer; construction of new transformer base, provision of needed electrical materials for the installation of the transformer and the extension of water projects to some parts of the community.
The event also featured the presentation of awards and certificates of appreciation to some individuals and eminent persons for their immeasurable contributions toward the rapid development and peaceful coexistence in Aleke community.
Among these were, Governor Ambode, Oba Kabir Shotobi; Hon. SOB Agunbiade, Majority leader LSHA, Chief Adeniyi Okemati, Baale Aleke; Prince Adekunle Alashe, Aleke CDA chairman; Alhaji (Chief) Wasiu Showemimo, Deputy family Head of Olugbade Fadalamu Agbogba family of Aleke/Isiwu.
These people were also given awards, Alhaja (Princess) Adekemi Showemimo, Iyaloja of Aleke town; Mrs. Funke Moore, general manager LTV 8; Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC chieftain; Rev. Charles Adeleke Odugbesi, former Secretary, Lagos State, APC; Lagos State Government (Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs); IBILE Update (Access 57), LTV 8 and Hon. Fuad Oki.
