some parts of Ikorodu, but more of the ugly scenes are in Ogunshi Junction, Salvation Army School and Sabo Market area, where careless and indiscriminate dumping of wastes have turned those areas into messy, stinking and environmentally disastrous areas.
Along Itunmoja-Ogunshi Junction, a small designated dump site, demarcated by net, is today abused by residents, who instead of carefully pouring refuse into the actual dump site, do so indiscriminately on the outside, spilling over the wastes to the main road. The place now smells badly like a mass grave site.
What about the canal opposite Salvation Army School Ikorodu? The offensive odour from that site can produce a chemical weapon or a deadly bomb. There is no doubt those living around this canal, where wastes are poured anyhow for decades, thereby blocking the canal flow, must be suffering from one health challenge or the other from the pollution.
Have you been to one site opposite Sabo Market? This popular Hausa abode has turned into a dungeon. Refuse now over flows into the major road and no one cares. There are no more sanitary inspectors to caution or shout; no environmental control officers to sanction anyone in any of these three highlighted places and more.
Maybe someone is waiting for an epidemic or a pandemic situation to explode before something is done.
