Hon Solaja, chartered accountant legislator from Imota unfold a bundle of achievements in one year

hon3Like Jimi Benson did on June 10, 2016 to celebrate his achievements in the last one year in the House of Representatives, where he advertised the dividends of democracy to the people of Ikorodu, Hon. Solaja, a chartered accountant, a religious man that has the fear of God, and an incumbent vice chairman of Ikorodu NASFAT, on June 10, decided to pull all the Obas in the division to witness what he had done in the last one year in his constituency, Imota.

On that day, the Obas in Ikorodu division, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Abayomi Ogunsanya; Ranosu of Imota, Oba Ajibade Bakare; Obateru of Egbin, Oba Akeem Oyebo; Regent of Ijede, and Regent of Ipakodo, High Chief Rasheed Shitta, all led by Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, were physically present to witness for the first time what no representative of Imota had ever done.

hon4The handsome, intelligent legislator was full of joy to tell his audience, which include other legislators like Jimi Benson, Agunbiade and former Secretary to the Lagos State Government (SSG), Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya, and his achievements.

In his address, Hon. Solaja told students’ union representatives and 25 graduates of Bright Star Computer school how he contributed to community and youth development in Imota by providing borehole at Ijede and Igbogbo. He told the audience the numerous programmes he carried out for his people and constituency, namely; first essay writing, competition and quiz competition for schools; distribution of GCE forms to students; free computer training to 55 students across the constituency; rendered assistance to students seeking admission into tertiary institutions; donation of JAMB forms to students in Imota; construction of constituency offices at Ijede and Imota, and sponsoring of many constituency meetings.

 

Hon. Nurudeen Solaja went further to announce that he created job opportunities and provided supports in the area of religious and social activities in the constituency and helped teachers in getting employment at SUBEB, Lagos Civil Service Commission and LASTMA.hon6

As a religious man, he was bold to say that he had offered support to all religious institutions and clubs during religious festivals. For social organizations, he had given support to Imota club, Obateru Day in Egbin and Imota Youth Development Association annual award.

The four-hour event, starting from 10:00a.m to 3:00p.m, witnessed more than five hundred people from different segments of the community at an open field of a primary school. It witnessed donation of gifts to three students, who participated in the Essay writing and Quiz competition of about eighteen students.

hon7he competition with 135 points to clinch the first position, followed by Adams Fiona Folashawe from Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta, who emerged as the second position winner with 127 points, while Itokpa Ruth from Luwasa Senior Secondary School, Ijede, clinched the third position with 123 points. Each of them was given a certificate of participation and a laptop computer.

Later, the first set of Bright Star Computers Institute, Ijede, were given certificates at the event. Apart from this, Hon. Solaja also commissioned a borehole and pumping machine, which he donated at Olufowoshete, Imota and Ijede, LCDA. The event, fromthe beginning to the end was a carnival-like affair.

In an interview with Imota people, they described Solaja’s action as wonderful. According to them, they had never witnessed such gestures by any legislator in the past. They prayed to Allah to guide him to do more. At the end of the event, joy could be seen on their faces as the Obas showered praises on him for good representation and for bringing to his constituency, the dividends of democracy.
