After a long wait, the Lagos State Government has recently given recognition to the Ikorodu traditional rulers, who have been on the waiting list for the state government to gazette them.
For ten years, they have been parading themselves as traditional chiefs recognized only by Kabiyesi, and not with the backing of the Lagos State government.
Today, our amiable Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has been good to the people of Ikorodu by approving this list for the following people, Chief Zacheaus O. Odusoga, Olisa of Ikorodu; Late Chief Tinuola Benson, Iyalode of Ikorodu; Chief Afolabi Adekayaoja, Solomade of Ikorodu, Chief Jacob Kolawole Adaraloye, Oponuwa of Ikorodu and Otunba Lanre Afuwape, Otunba, Odo-Nla
HRM, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi announced this during the third stakeholders meeting at the Ayangbure Palace, where he thanked the governor for this move but also told him that more people are still awaiting recognition.
He pleaded with the governor to give them urgent approval.
