18 year-old Qudus arrested for theft in Sabo market

An eighteen (18) year old boy, Qudus Oredola, was arrested on Monday, May 20, 2019, by the security men at the Ayangbure market (popularly called Sabo market) for theft.
He was arrested by the guards around 6a.m while he was attempting to gain entry into the market through the fence and was later handed over to the men of the Onyabo vigilante group for further action.
The leader of the vigilante group, Mr. Nurudeen Oseni, popularly known as jay-jay, confirmed the incident in an interview with Oriwu Sun and added that they had earlier received a report that the suspect stole a mobile phone at a petrol station and sold it for N500 the previous day.
He explained that while interrogating the boy, he gave them the contact number of his father but that when they contacted the father, he denied knowing him.
Mr. Oseni stated that they were still waiting for his relatives to show up before handing him over to the Police for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Qudus, in a brief interview with Oriwu Sun, confessed to have been arrested while he was trying to gain entry into Sabo market through the fence but denied the allegation that he wanted to steal from the market.
He claimed that he works in the market as a bus conductor and that he was only trying to gain entry through the fence because he thought that the main entrances could not have been opened by the guards at that time of the day.
He stated that his father is from Ikorodu while his mother is from Ekiti, and added that they currently reside at Agric area of Ikorodu.
On the report that the man he called his father has denied knowing him, Qudus explained that it was because he had a disagreement with him, which had made him to stay away from home for the past one month while he also stated that he has been sleeping in buses at Sabo market and other places alongside his other colleagues.
