SOB’S 9th Ramadan lecture draws eminent Islamic Imams, personalities

 An electrifying crowd of politicians, Muslim faithful, traditional rulers, eminent persons, supporters and residents across Ikorodu division on Wednesday May 8, 2019, joined Hon. S.O.B. Agunbiade at his annual Ramadan/Iftar lecture to praise God for his recent re-election as representative of Ikorodu Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly for a record fourth term.

This year’s edition of annual lecture, which was held at the lawmaker’s constituency office located at Obafemi Awolowo Road, Oke-Ota Ona, Ikorodu, was the ninth consecutive year that Hon. Agunbiade would be assembling muslims across the division to break their fast and listen to soul lifting and searching lectures delivered by revered Islamic scholars.

The event was a special outing because it was coming few months after Hon. Agunbiade won his hard fought re-election battle and it was not surprising that the event was used by the lawmaker and his guests to praise God for granting him victory at the poll.

The guest lecturer, Hon Abdul-Lateef Abdul-Hakeem, the Lagos State for Home Affairs and Chief Imam of Lagos State House of Assembly, who had been delivering lectures in the last three editions of the event was once again at his very best as a used the lecture, which was tagged “The Greatness of Allah”, to show the greatness and favour of God in the life of Hon. Agunbiade.

In his lecture, the revered Cleric stated that the host knows the greatness of Allah which makes him to be organizing the Ramadan lecture annually, stating that, that is the main reason God has been manifesting His wonders in his life.

“When Hon. Agunbiade contacted me to deliver this year’s Ramadan Iftar (breaking of fast) lecture which happens to be the 9th edition, he simply told me that I should not be labor my effort on doing anything but to just praise and thank the Almighty God for His goodness over him and his constituency,” Hon. Abdul-Lateef revealed.

“He asked me to just praise Allah because he knows His Greatness.”

The erudite Islamic scholar also stated that it is only God that can put anybody in power without anybody questioning him.

“It is God that has placed Hon. Agunbiade in the position of Authority and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

“There is no power that can elect or put anybody in power in Lagos State without God’s consent.

“There are others that attempted to be in that position but they never made it. A candidate was picked by the party at Ibeju-Lekki but died before the election.”

“Anybody in power should know his limit and accept God as the greatest that he should worship, praise and adore at all times.

“The ways to accept the greatness of God is to worship Him in truth, desist from falsehood and lies, don’t womanise,” the guest lecturer said.

The Grand Chief Imam, Ikorodu Division, Sheikh Seifudeen Olowo-Oribi, speaking at the Iftar event, emphasized that the gathering was all about praise and worship Allah every year.

He commended Hon. Agunbiade for providing muslim faithful the platform to hear sermon during Ramadan period.

The revered Islamic cleric also stated that, “the month of Ramadan is all about prayers, praises and forgiveness.”

Hon. Agunbiade was also given the opportunity to lead the gathering in praising God by shouting “Allahu Akbar” several times in appreciation of God’s blessings and greatness in his life.

Nurudeen Solaja, Olubeshe of Ibeshe, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Grand Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division, Alhaji Sefiudeen Olowo-Oribi, Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikorodu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taiwo Longe, APC Chairman, Ikorodu North, Hon. Abiodun Iyiola, APC Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Alhaji Olakitan, the chairman, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, Publisher, Oriwu Sun, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, member of the Governing Board, Lagos State Sports Commission, Prince Hakeem Olokunga, Alhaji Rilwan Jinadu, Former Chairman, APC in Ikorodu and Otunba Saheed Ibikunle, former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Management.

Also at the event were Hon. Adeola Jokomba, former Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Alhaji Lamidi Folorunsho, Mr. Damilola Olowosago, Sheikh Kalejaiye, Alhaji Junaid Owokodu, Barr. Lekan Ijelu, Mr. Yinka Majekodunmi and Chief Imam Aridegve among others.
