How 123 influential members of Oriwu Club built N60million ultral-modern, great hall, event centre

The prestigious Oriwu Club of Ikorodu on January 30, 2019 made another powerful statement in Lagos state as it commissioned its ultra-modern great hall amidst pomp and grandeur.
The gigantic structure is estimated to have cost more than N500 million to build and is the latest entry into the Events and Entertainment sector of the state’s economy.
The magnificent multi-purpose hall, which can simultaneously host three engagements (parties), has a combined capacity of over 2000 seats for guests.
Standing majestically on an acre of land, the great hall is a latest powerful statement of Oriwu Club as the most influential, most prestigious and most successful club in the Lagos East Senatorial zone of Lagos State.
From a handful of members more than forty (40) years ago, Oriwu Club today has over 100 high caliber members all of whom are successful professionals, wealthy and prominent in their fields and in Lagos community.
To gain membership of this club, one must set aside a minimum of N1million entry fee and go through screening over years and services of integrity tests. All the members are graduates in their fields of study and high fliers in their careers.
So, when they decided to build this magnificent hall years ago, no one doubted the end product.
Twelve days to the commissioning ceremony, a team of reporters from Oriwu Sun visited the club house. From the main gate facing Sagamu Road to the Western end of the club house stretching over 100 meters, the place was abuzz with civil works.
Finishing touches were being put on the landscaping, with emphasis on the interlocking activity. It was as if Julius Berger or Arab contractors was at work. Tons of earth work, granites, tons of sand, layers of scores of workers were at work; drawing lines and measuring distances etc.
Inside the main auditorium of the great hall, finishing interior decorations were going on.
All the other facilities were ready. They include about four toilet segments, two gangway to the upper chambers/galleries, the side lobbies/balconies for caterers the kitchens, the technical section for public address system/ Audio visual programming.
A vast terraced car park is another alluring facility in this club house.
The gothic style architecture of the Hall stands it out in the division and the state, all the sections of the hall are air conditioned while all the support wings and services are all excellently finished.
From the frontal old hall and main club house to the Great Hall through to the back (Western end of the massive land), there is an emphatic impression of this high profile club in Ikorodu.
Among the facilities available are chalets, outdoor/indoor games such as Table Tennis. The club has heavy duty diesel generators and backup power supply generators for twenty four (24) hour operations including excellent hospitality by the workers and club members.
The governors of Lagos State are Patrons of the club as the Ayangbure of Ikorodu remains the Life Patron of the club.
No wonder, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, on January 30, 2019, will commissioned this great hall as a mark of his recognition of the outstanding stature of Oriwu Club which has been a Think Tank group, a pressure body and calibrated social club.
With the commissioning of this great hall, social events and other eminent functions will now shift focus to this wonderful Event Center, which has among other things centrality, accessibility and still provides exclusivity.
